Ascending rope-secured to the Kitzsteinhorn summit
There is hardly any other mountain better suited for a first 3,000-meter summit ascent. You meet your state-certified mountain guide at the Kitzsteinhorn valley station. Together, you enjoy the scenic cable car rides to the summit station at 3,029 meters. Here, you receive your equipment and a brief introduction to the ascent ahead. Then it’s time to head for the summit – safely secured by rope. Depending on weather conditions and your fitness level, the climb to the summit cross at 3,203 meters takes about one hour to one and a half hours.
Your efforts are rewarded with breathtaking views: Your gaze wanders over the summit sea of the Hohe Tauern and, on clear days, reaches all the way down to the Zell basin – or even as far as the Bavarian Alpine Foreland.
Top tip › With the Zell am See-Kaprun Summer Card, your ride up and down with the cable cars is free.
