12 kilometres and 1.500 altitude metres downhill on the mountain bike freeride trails
The three freeride trails at the Kitzsteinhorn offer pure variety on a total of 1.500 altitude metres and 12 kilometres:
All the way downhill! And that with the greatest pleasure! Because after a leisurely ride up the mountain with modern cable cars, trails full of variety lead back downhill into the valley. Three freeride trails full of variety ensure first-class downhill fun for enduro bikers. You start at the Geißstein Trail at the Alpincenter 2,450 m above sea level in high alpine environment and enjoy the gentle, green alpine pastures of this vegetation zone from Langwied already. Further down, it gets tricky and rooty when you reach the tree line on the Wüstlau Trail with technically challenging passages. The sophisticated Bachler Trail leads down into the valley to the picturesque Klammsee reservoir. From there, it's a leisurely return to the lower terminus, because freeriders and their bikes float uphill to the start of the trails quickly and in comfort by cable car.
The Maiskogel-Trail is the ideal option for biking sports beginners. Starting at the MK Maiskogelbahn mountain station at 1,570 metres above sea level. The trail meanders gently and well-developed over 4.6 kilometres through wide and narrow banked curves, waves and smaller jumps to the finish at the MK Maiskogelbahn Stanger station 1,137 m above sea level. There you can decide right away whether to have another go and float back to the start relaxed by using the MK Maiskogelbahn or to return to the centre of Kaprun.
The trails on the Kitzsteinhorn are open from around mid-June to mid-September, the trail on the Maiskogel can be used depending on the operating hours of the MK Maiskogelbahn.
All bike tours on the Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel can be combined perfectly with the cable cars up- & downhill.
